Tiruchirappalli International Airport (TRZ) is on the south-eastern side of the city, and Srirangam is on an island in the Kaveri to the north. The drive is roughly 15–20 km across the city and usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
By taxi or app cab
The simplest option, especially with luggage, children or elders. Prepaid and local taxis wait at the airport, and app-based cabs operate in Trichy. Confirm the fare before you set off.
By auto rickshaw
Autos are available outside the airport and work well for one or two people with light bags. Agree the fare first.
By bus
For the cheapest journey, take a city bus from the airport road to the Central bus stand or the Chathiram bus stand, then a frequent city bus to Srirangam. It takes longer and is not ideal with heavy luggage.
Tips
- Arriving late at night? Pre-book a cab and share your live location with family.
- Going straight to darshan? Check the temple timings and dress code first, and carry a bag for footwear.
- Staying a few days? Base yourself in a quieter area and visit Srirangam, Thiruvanaikaval and the Rockfort in one day by cab.
