The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam draws pilgrims and travellers from across India. A little planning makes the visit more comfortable.

Go early

Mornings are cooler and usually calmer. Festival days and weekends can be very busy, so allow extra time.

Dress modestly

Wear comfortable clothing that covers shoulders and knees. You will need to leave footwear outside, so slip-on shoes are easiest.

Allow plenty of time

The complex is large, with several enclosures and gopurams. Plan for a few unhurried hours and carry water.

Check timings before you go

Darshan timings and rules can change on festival days. Check locally on the day of your visit.

Staying nearby makes it easy to visit early, rest in the afternoon and return in the evening.
